For one Roxbury teen, interning on a farm was about much more than bringing home food

At B.GOOD’s Hannah Farm, kids from across the city learn the importance of a healthy diet and a healthy planet.

Seventeen-year-old Micah has been attending Camp Harbor Viewa non-profit serving Boston youth through a summer camp on Boston Harbor’s Long Island and year-round leadership development programs—for more than five years.

This past summer, Micah was given a particularly special opportunity. Thanks to a partnership between Camp Harbor View and Boston-based restaurant chain, B.GOOD, Micah participated in an eight-week Farm Internship program on B.GOOD’s Hannah Farm, a one-acre test farm focused on innovation, education, and volunteerism, likewise located on Long Island.

For Micah, the impact of the internship extended well beyond learning to farm, and he is far from the only student with this experience. Since opening in 2016, B.GOOD’s Hannah Farm has educated thousands of kids like Micah about the importance of sustainable farms and healthy eating.

At B.GOOD, being good means more than just offering a better way to eat—it means creating positive social and environmental change in the communities they serve. The Farm Internship program, in partnership with Camp Harbor View, is one of many ways they’re doing just that.
