We’re with you: building a model of support for our nurses

Nurses serve a critical role in healthcare. Not only are they responsible for so much of the bedside care of patients – from running operations and administering medicines to helping patients deal with pain and struggle for survival – but they are also the emotional support system for patients and their loved ones in their hour of need. In the era of COVID-19, the daily strains on these essential workers have only further exemplified the dedication and boundless compassion these healthcare heroes have.

Ensuring these frontline workers have the necessary support and tools to manage patient care safely and effectively is at the crux of the healthcare industry’s mission today. Particularly as health systems cope with an influx of patients, nurses need to have visibility into the health and wellbeing of those for whom they care. By equipping them with monitoring solutions that can help identify and alert them when a patient’s condition may be deteriorating, nurses are empowered to intervene when it matters most, helping to improve patient safety and critical clinical outcomes. At the same time, remote monitoring tools can help limit staff exposure to infection by allowing them to gather critical vital signs without entering a patient’s room.

For those nurses who may be shifting wards and taking on responsibilities that are outside of their usual daily tasks, training materials can help them confidently own these duties, from early warning alerting, to basic patient monitoring.

Nurses are regularly risking their own health and often isolating themselves from their loved ones so that they can continue to provide the utmost care for their patients. Their sacrifice and determination remain an inspiration.

At Philips, we believe there’s always a way to make life better. Thank you to all the nurses who also live this promise for their patients.
